The World of Pets (Las Mascotas)

Today’s class was a fun and furry celebration of pets — ¡en español!
We learned vocabulary for common pets like perro (dog), gato (cat), conejo (rabbit), hámster, and pez (gish), along with words such as cola (tail), pata (paw), alas (wings), and pecera (fishbowl). We also discovered that animals make different sounds in Spanish — dogs say guau guau and birds say pio pio!
A quick class poll showed dogs as the most popular pet. Then we got creative decorating our own mini fabric cats or dogs with colors, spots, and cute accessories.
To wrap up, we played several games: a pet memory match using Spanish vocabulary, a freeze-and-move game acting like different animals, a silly Cats vs. Dogs race, and charades where we guessed and acted out pets en español.
A lively, hands-on day filled with learning and lots of laughs!
