We were excited to begin our La Familia workshop in our new classroom!
We learned vocabulary for important family members such as abuelo, mamá, papá, hermano, and hermana. We talked about our own families and shared the names of these special people. Some family members were simply called abuela or abuelo, which gave us all a good laugh!
Next, we created our own family trees by drawing different family members and adding them to a tree. We loved the creativity and drawing skills!
We then practiced our new vocabulary with a fun memory game, matching pairs of family members. When we found a correct pair and named the family member in Spanish, we earned prizes.
To finish, we reviewed our vocabulary with a drill, calling out family member names as they were shown. We were amazed at how much the kiddos remembered. We presented, practiced, and produced language all in one class — making learning practical, engaging, and fun!
